Memorial Day is honored in Milan, Ohio, much the same way it is honored in other small towns across America. We have a parade featuring the colors of our flags leading the parade, the Edison High School band, boy & girl scouts and the fire department vehicles. The parade starts in the town square at about 10:30 and ends at the Milan Cemetery. Along the way, many of townspeople join the parade as they move to the cemetery. At the cemetery, the mayor and the American Legion volunteers hold a ceremony in front of the Hastings Memorial Chapel to honor those who died while serving their country in the service. The ceremony is well attended by the people in the town. |
