One of the problems with digital images is that they simply don't have the tonal range of film stock. So when you're shooting in a forested park or heavily wooded area, it's nearly impossible to record the range of tones and color because of the extreme lights and darks. One way around that is to shoot in overcast days but then the photos are flat in tone or to shoot in the wintertime when the trees are without leaves and you get better overhaul lighting. However, I've discovered a new method of using a matrix of f stops to generate an image that incorporates nearly all of the tonal range in an image. What you see in this gallery are photos that each are a combination of five photos representing 4 or more f stops in the camera. Keep in mind, you're now seeing images that have tonal ranges before impossible to record so some colors (like green in a forest landscape) is dominant in the photos. I hope you enjoy them... |
