Video Playback Information Page

The video's you see on our site are photographed by us specifically for the MilanArea.com website. We use a Sony video camera and all of the movies will play on the Microsoft Windows Media Player which you can download directly from Microsoft.  We use the Windows player because it has the most support of any player on the market, however make sure you have the latest version (check their website).

We also recognize that different people visiting our site will have a variety of modems and access to the net and this site. Some, with higher speed connections,  will be able to view and/or download the video's directly with no problem and others, because they have slower Internet connections may have more difficulty viewing these video clips within a reasonable period of time. We offer the option of downloading a video that has been compressed using a Zip program and these will have the file extension ".zip" in the file name. In this case, you'll need to download and save the zip video file to your computers hard drive and then use a zip program to un-zip the file before you can open and view it in your player.  A variety of Zip programs are available in free shareware on the net or you can download the program we use - WinZip directly from their site for an evaluation period.

Surfing The Net For Movies

There are many sites on the net that feature specialty movie clips of just about every interest and some even full length movies. The Windows media player will play many but not all the various formats you'll find on the net because there are dozens of audio and video encoding methods within them called "codecs". You must have these various codecs installed on your computer to view all the different videos you'll find on the net.  Most codecs you will need come with Windows Media Player, but some do not. If you are interested in seeing movie material from the net, there are other valuable players we recommend you download to have a complete playback library - DivX, 3ivx, and QuickTime. We are not responsible for the legality, safety, or integrity of third-party software, however we have all of these installed on our computer and they work very well.
